- Student defines or locates an internship option with the organization or mentor of his or her choice, then contacts the Internship Coordinator Diana Yepez (dyepez@mum.edu) to start the process and obtains the Internship Proposal Form. This form can also be downloaded by clicking here. If help is needed in the application process with resume, cover letter or interview preparation, student meets with Dr. Rachel Goodman, Director of Career Planning at rgoodman@mum.edu
- Student fills out the First Part of the Internship Proposal Form.
- Student contacts the Graduation Director (ext.4233, graduation@mum.edu) to confirm that the timing of the internship will not interfere with any academic requirements for graduation.
- Student contacts a full-time faculty member who may be willing to act as the Faculty Advisor for the Internship. Then the student meets with that faculty member to confirm that the internship is commensurate with the student’s educational objectives, fits in with the schedule for that year and can count as credit.
- Faculty sets academic learning objectives and deliverables with the student. Faculty Advisor and Department Head sign Internship Proposal Form.
- Student gives filled out form back to the Internship Coordinator for the Internship and Academic Standards Committees to review and approve.
- If approved, the student enrolls for the internship course designated by their Department.
- MUM Faculty Advisor initiates a phone conversation with the on-site supervisor to establish contact and communication.
- The student completes the internship and all assignments and evaluations as discussed and agreed upon beforehand, and receives a grade from the designated Academic Advisor.
To qualify for academic credit at Maharishi University of Management an Internship Proposal Form completed through Part B must be submitted to the Internship Coordinator at least two weeks prior to the beginning of the internship.
