Role of the Internship Provider
An internship provides a student with the opportunity to get hands-on experience in a particular field, and explore and become familiar with an industry that might interest him/her in the future. For the internship provider, it's an opportunity to gain an enthusiastic team member and someone with a fresh perspective of the organization and the way it operates.
A Faculty Advisor is assigned whenever an MUM student goes on an internship. In most cases, the Faculty Advisor will have contact with the On-site supervisor to ensure a pleasant and fulfilling experience, both for the student and the Internship Provider organization. Typically, this happens prior to the beginning of the internship (to set up internship goals and objectives) and after the student has completed the internship (for evaluation and grading purposes).
In one way or another, the student will be required to keep up a blog to reflect on the knowledge and experience obtained throughout the internship.
The On-site supervisor will serve as a mentor for the student and will play a key role in the student's performance. Maharishi University of Management requires that the Internship Provider offer the student a supportive yet challenging professional work environment, conducive to learning and career development.
For Credit Internships
For credit internships, require students to do a minimum of 25 hours per week and a maximum of 28. The student will be receiving academic credit for the experience and therefore, he or she is expected to complete the same amount of hours as if he/she was attending any other regular class. The schedule for a class at MUM goes as follows:
Monday through Friday:
10:00 am - 12:00pm
LUNCH
